Events & Programs Manager

Job Summary:  Under general direction of the Artistic Programming Director & Executive Director the Events Manager will coordinate and manage Art Center events & programs, private parties, and building rentals.

Art Center of the Bluegrass:  Founded in 2003,The Art Center of the Bluegrass is the creative hub for the southern Bluegrass region of Kentucky, with rotating exhibits and a wide range of educational programs and events for children and adults.

Start Date:  Negotiable

Compensation:  $36,000- $40,000 annually (monthly tech stipend, 12 paid holidays, PTO days, flex time, new laptop computer, 80% discount on classes & building rental, 25% discount on gallery purchases, possible health insurance). Full time position, 35-40 hours per week.

Physical Requirements:  Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the workspace. Attend meetings in various locations in the building and outside of the building.  Communicate or exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person or electronically.  Drive a car and lift 15+ pounds.

Full time position

Flexible, nontraditional hours as needed.

Principle Responsibilities:

Programs & Events

  • With Artistic Programming Director, create annual events schedule
  • Grow and develop Art Center events
  • Manage all events  
  • Manage programs & events on the Google Calendar
  • Create monthly reports on programs and event data
  • Attend Art Center events & programs 
  • Find volunteers for programs and events
  • Set up technology for events

Building Rentals

  • Grow and manage the Building Rental Program
  • Grow and manage the Birthday Party Program
  • Manage the new Building Rental space, including rentals, alcohol, cleaning

Events

  • With Executive Director & Artistic Programming Director, develop annual events schedule
  • Coordinate & manage current Art Center events
  • Develop new Art Center Events
  • Develop new Art Park events
  • Build Art Park sense of space
  • Support fundraising events

Lunch & Evening with the Arts

  • Grow Lunch & Evening with the Arts
  • With Artistic Programming Director, establish annual LWTA program and schedule presenters
  • Add to Google calendar
  • Be point of contact

Artist Market Events

  • Contract artists
  • Coordinate logistics & volunteers
  • Be present at each Market
  • Establish evaluation metrics

Health & Wellness

  • With Artistic Programming Director & Education Manager, develop new health & wellness programs

Art Kits

  • Manage Art Kits Program
  • Buy materials
  • Coordinate the creation of kits

Other:

  • Cover visitor engagement shifts as needed, including covering one to two Saturday shifts a year. 
  • Attend Art Center events, programs, and some openings
  • Where appropriate, contribute team effort to be creative and solve problems (example: large exhibit planning, annual program schedule…)
