Appalachia Exhibit

The Art Center’s winter exhibit will be Appalachia from the Inside: Celebrating Kentucky’s Appalachian art and culture.

Three inter-related exhibits showcase a range of media, techniques, and themes relevant to contemporary Appalachian identity. The exhibit pushes back against stereotypes of the region and celebrates both its history and future.

Due to the lingering impact of COVID-19, teachers can choose to participate virtually or in-person field trips to this exhibit.

Format – Virtual field trips will be facilitated via live video meeting (either Zoom or Google Meets) and last approximately 1 hour. In-person field trips take place at the Art Center and last 90-minutes. Field trips are divided into a Gallery Walk, with discussion of the exhibited artwork, and a hands-on project that allows students to respond to the work on display. We can accommodate up to 40 students at a time for in-person field trips and up to 100 for virtual.

Cost – Our exhibit field trips typically cost $6 per student. We currently have funding available to waive the fee for all 4th graders and students with disabilities. We have some additional funding for other grades on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact us to find out if we can waive the fee for your students!

Scheduling – Winter field trips will be available from January 31 through March 11, 2022. Contact Leigh – leigh@artcenterky.org – to schedule your field trip!
