Art Therapy is available at Art Center of the Bluegrass
Art Center of the Bluegrass is kicking off the new year with exciting news! Art Therapy sessions will be available monthly for adults and teens. Led by licensed art therapist Danielle Creamer, these group sessions are $15 to attend.
Art therapy uses art-making to help people express themselves, cope with challenges, and improve their well-being. Danielle has worked with individuals who found resilience through chronic illness, trauma, physical disabilities, neurodivergence, and mental health conditions.
The theme for adults will be Self-Compassion: A Journey to a Kinder and Connected Self. The artwork will be organized into three groupings from January to June. In January and February, the sessions will focus on self-kindness. March and April will be dedicated to common humanity. The final two months of the series will hone in on mindfulness.
Designed for students ages 9-17 with a diagnosis of Autism or other neurodivergent traits, tween and teen sessions focus on creative expression through art projects, building social skills in a welcoming environment, exploring topics like mental health, development, and relationships, and celebrating strengths and shared passions
The Art Center is able to provide these services at a greatly reduced price, thanks to a generous grant from WHAS Crusade for Children.
Adult sessions will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month beginning on January 9. No prior art skills are required, and materials will be provided. Register HERE.
Sessions for neurodivergent tweens and teens will be held from 1-3 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month, beginning on January 25. These sessions are also just $15 to attend. Register HERE.
