This week we made beaded quilt pins! Some resembled quilts with pretty patterns and colors, while others were made to resemble real-life objects, like a house and chimney. Whatever your little one’s vision, this is sure to make for a fun, engaging activity that they can even use to pin on their shirt, backpack, etc.!
Materials:
- Fuse beads (such as Perler brand)
- Plastic bead frame
- Iron
- Ironing surface
- Parchment paper
- Hot glue gun
- Pin back
Instructions:
Step 1: Place beads onto a plastic frame in whatever pattern appeals. (If it is going to be jewelry, it’s best to keep it pretty small.)
Step 2: When the pattern is done, place a piece of parchment paper over the pattern and iron for about 15 seconds. You will see the beads start to melt a bit.
Step 3: Carefully flip the piece off of the tray and onto the ironing surface. Place another piece of parchment paper on top and iron again for 10 seconds.
Step 4: Let cool, and hot glue the pin to the back of the beaded quilt pattern.
