LaVon Williams

LaVon Williams is an acclaimed urban-folk carved-sculpture and relief artist from Florida. His work in carved sculpture and traditional reliefs is portrayed through his distinctive style that is reminiscent of coastal South Carolina’s African Gullah Geechee culture, as well as the artistic household he grew up in. Through a varied use of energetic color and angular forms, he is able to capture the spirited physical movement of jazz and the geometric, and striking contrasts of a patchwork quilt. His art continues to grow and is influenced by historical and cultural experiences.

LaVon has two pieces in the Call and Response exhibit and two pieces in the Conversations exhibit.
