Dear Patrons,
Innovation is one of the central values of the Art Center of the Bluegrass.
And boy – are we in the middle of being innovative! We took an idea and expanded it to a 3.7 million expansion project, and we are thrilled about the impact this will have on our town, region, and state!
The 3 major components of the ArtSee Project are:
1. Restoration & renovation of an 11,000 square foot historic property, next door to our current historic property, a major contributing building in the downtown Danville thoroughfare.
2. The creation of a national glass museum, featuring the museum collection of the late Stephen Rolfe Powell, while also featuring works from other glass artists like Dale Chihuly and Lino Tagliapeitra.
3. The expansion of programming to include, new educational spaces, new exhibit spaces, a small glass blowing studio, a glass sales gallery, an expanded artistic gift gallery, a culinary classroom, more artist studios, an innovative eating establishment with a focus on fresh food and eco-friendly practices, a large-renovated ballroom, a rooftop patio/bar, and many new partnerships. All of this will strengthen the region’s arts eco-system, for which we are a cornerstone.
Today is the day that we start renovations! We hope to have some components open and ready for business as early as October. This will be a phased project – so depending on how quickly we can raise the money, will determine how quickly we can move through the phases.
We know this is a big undertaking and so do others, we have a generous donor who will match contributions totaling 1 million dollars pledged before the end of the year.
This is where you come in. Can you help us get the million-dollar match? Can you contribute a significant gift to the ArtSee Campaign? Can you join us in the innovation? We need you!
