Poetry Connected

inspired by others

Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 6-7 pm in the Main Gallery

Join us for our next Poetry Connected event, March 8, 2023 from 6-7 PM with the theme “inspired by others.” Poets will be asked to use their creative minds to respond to our current exhibit, Connections: Celebrating Artists with Disabilities, which will be on display through March 23, 2023.

The tradition of composing poems that respond to visual art and sculpture is referred to as ekphrastic poetry. For inspiration in writing poetry based on the show, think about the following questions:

What is something special about you?

What do you find beautiful in others?

This event is for all types of poets; From the well-seasoned to the first-timers and everyone in between. To all the “secret poets” wishing to participate, rest assured that your words will be welcomed with open arms!

Performing poets may share up to two poems, inspired by pieces from the show. The event is free to the public and open to poets high-school age and above.

Poets who wish to perform should have their poems submitted through email to Leigh Jefferson at leigh@artcenterky.org, no later than Friday, March 3 @ 12 PM. Performing poets will receive a schedule of performances before the event.
