Run for the Arts

Constitution 5K/Run for the Arts

Sunday, September 15

Grab your friends and get ready to run (or jog, or walk, or boogie). We are returning to our traditional Sunday evening race time this year on Sunday, September 15 for the 41st annual Constitution 5K, now in its 11th year as the Run for the Arts.

Why join the Run for the Arts? As one the region’s longest-standing races, the Run for the Arts is also one of the last remaining downtown races. There are very few opportunities to enjoy a beautiful (mostly flat and fast) run through the streets of historic Danville, KY.

The race begins at Constitution Square, with check-in at Weisiger Plaza beginning at 3:45pm. Split times will be given at the 1 and 2 mile markers. Water will be available at an aid station on the course and at the finish area. Restrooms are available at the Art Center and Constitution Square.

Plus there are other important race perks. Our race shirts are the best – you will actually want to wear it again. Also, we give out GREAT prizes, hand-crafted by local artist Paul Muth of Sugar Grove Pottery & Eclectica.

In addition to awards by age level, this year we are also giving out an award for Most Artistic Running Outfit, so grab some face paint, stick a feather in your hair, or otherwise display your very own artistic flare. Thanks to our friends at Orange Leaf in Danville, the group that registers with the most participants will receive vouchers for free FroYo!

The Run for the Arts is family-friendly, but if you’ve got kids too young to run and too big for the stroller, you can sign them up for supervised art activities from 4:30pm to 6:15pm inside the Arts Center. Just $5 per child.

The Constitution 5K/Run for the Arts is organized by the FABULOUS FOLKS at Danville Bike and Footwear. Be sure to show them some love and shop local!
