Connections: Celebrating Artists with Disabilities

January 13 – March 23, 2023

The Art Center of the Bluegrass is consistently working to amplify the perspectives of artists from diverse backgrounds and we are proud to showcase the creativity of artists with disabilities through our next show:

Connections: Celebrating Artists with Disabilities.

There will be three interrelated exhibits. The exhibit in the Grand Hall will showcase five national artists. The Art Center commissioned these artists to create works with the general theme of Connections.

The works in the Upstairs Gallery is a curated exhibit by Arts for All Kentucky. Arts for All Kentucky connects artists with various types of disabilities to arts opportunities. They invited artists in their program to show work in this exhibition. Each artist considers themselves a professional artist and shows their work in various settings. Arts for All Kentucky is a nonprofit located in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The third exhibit features artwork by students with disabilities throughout Boyle County, curated from the Art Center’s long standing connections with local special education teachers in the area. These works can be seen throughout our Historic Hallway on the second floor.

In collaboration with the Art Center, McLeod’s Coffee House in Lexington, KY has provided artwork from featured artist Patrick Tutsch which will be on display at the bottom of the marble staircase. To learn more, click here.
