LICIA PRIEST
Layered Reflections
In June, we welcome Louisville artist Licia Priest to our Grand Hall Gallery. Her exhibit, Layered Reflections, explores the interplay of diversity and commonality in human experience.
Her work is created in paper and on glass. Verre églomisé, with its reverse-painted glass surfaces gilded from behind, reveals intricate narratives only through light and angle—much like the hidden layers of personal history that emerge in shared spaces. Paper tole, built from meticulously cut and layered paper, adds dimensional relief, embodying the tangible accumulation of individual stories into collective forms.
Layered Reflections will be on exhibit June 19 through July 25, with an Opening Reception with the artist on Saturday, June 20, from 2-4:30 pm. Visit our galleries Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is free!
Her Story Studio
Licia Priest will also host a three-day workshop in verre églomisé, the reverse-painted glass technique she uses in her work.
“Her Story Studio” will explore how personal experiences, identity, ancestry, and lived experiences can be expressed visually. This workshop is just $55 for the three days with this award-winning artist. Spaces are limited, so register today. July 10-12.
America 250
Paint the Park is July 3 in Millennium Park
The second annual Paint the Park will be held in Millennium Park on Friday, July 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Art Center of the Bluegrass and Danville-Boyle County Parks & Recreation are excited to provide an art-making experience for the whole community in the beauty of Millennium Park, as a kickoff to the Independence Day weekend and the celebration of America 250!
A $10 registration fee includes tempera paints, brushes, and supplies. On July 3, we will Paint the Park by creating art in 200 4ft x 4ft squares in Millennium Park. Register online or by visiting the Art Center at 409 W. Main Street in Danville. Registration can also be made by phone at 859-236-4054.
Paint your square with your favorite school and sports team logos, paint a portrait of your pets, or paint something patriotic for the July 4 holiday. It’s a great art-making time for the entire family!
Your artwork will be on display as the park fills with people for a free concert with Montgomery Gentry that evening, and a fireworks display on Saturday, July 4!

Art Exploration Summer Camps
Summer Camps begin this week, and the Art Center will be bustling with activity as we serve hundreds of youngsters during June and July. We have so many ways you can help support our Summer Camps!
We are able to give scholarships to campers thanks to the generosity of people like you. Consider donating to the Art Center, and select “Art Center Programming and Operations” to earmark your giving to our summer camps!
When it comes time to host hundreds of campers, we need lots of supplies to go around! An easy way to directly impact our Summer Camps is to take a look at our Amazon Wish List and purchase items for camp there. They ship directly to our door!
We need lots of helpful hands to make Summer Camps happen! Fill out a Volunteer Application and greet parents, check campers in, set up crafts, assist instructors, and help out with lunchtime routines! Join us for a summer of creative fun!
