Art Exploration Summer Camps
We have a summer full of creative fun planned at the Art Center!
Full-Day and Half-Day Camps for kids rising into 1st – 5th grades, Preschool Camps on Fridays, and Camps for Tweens & Teens!
Camps start on June 1 and run through the end of July.
Classes and Workshops for ADULTS

Summer Ceramic Workshop Series
Soda Firing Workshop with Jonas Hurley
Students will bring finished, bisque-fired pots made with cone 10 clay. On the first day of this two-day workshop, we will apply glazes and wadding, and load the pots into the kiln to be candled overnight. On the second day, the pots will be hit with soda, creating unique colors and textures.
This workshop will be held in Springfield, and pots will be unloaded and delivered to the Art Center the following weekend.

Starry Night Studio
at Bird’s Nest Brewing Company
Unwind with a creative evening at a favorite local spot! We will paint outside, weather permitting.
Your registration includes a drink ticket to enjoy one of Birds Nest’s locally crafted beers, brewed right on-site in the heart of Danville.

Beginning/Intermediate Pottery
Learn basic wheel-throwing techniques in a six-week class. Throw, trim, and glaze your pottery with hands-on help from our experienced instructors.

Starry Night Studio
at Pioneer Playhouse
When you purchase your tickets for the Pioneer Playhouse’s opening production, “The Play That Goes Wrong,” you can add on a session of Starry Night Studio before the show!
Join artist Brandon Long and paint a scene from “The Iron Baby Angel,” a novel by Charles R. McDowell adapted for the stage by Robby Henson. This is ticketed through the Pioneer Playhouse.

Bob Ross Painting Class
Join certified Bob Ross instructor Shane Morrow and learn the wet-on-wet oil painting technique perfected by Ross in a hands-on, supportive class. No experience necessary, all materials provided!

Explore sculptural techniques to create expressive, one-of-a-kind pieces using methods like pinching, coiling, and slab-building. No experience needed, beginner-friendly.

Licia Priest – Layered Reflections
Louisville-based artist Licia Priest brings a body of work showcasing research done in Zimbabwe. Licia documented food, flora, fauna, architecture, city, rural, and family life, and their view and care of the elderly. Her focus is on dispelling perceived views of Africa and showing the realities that exist to bridge the cultural gap.
