September at the Art Center
September is here, and we have lots of ways for you to explore your creativity, experience art, and connect with our Art Center community! We have Printmaking, Pottery, Drawing, Mosaics, and Painting for adults, along with Homeschool Art Club, Painting, Kids Night Out, and Mini Makers Club for children. Run for the Arts
Join us on Sunday, September 14, for the 47th Annual Constitution 5K Run for the Arts. It’s a great way to support our mission of providing low-cost art opportunities for everyone!
You can also register the day of the race at Weisiger Park from 3:30 to 4:40 pm. The race starts at 5 pm at Constitution Square. The route takes you through historic downtown Danville, ending in front of the Art Center. Learn more HERE.
Artist Spotlight: Laura Zecchin
Photographer Laura Zecchin has been taking photos most of her life. Originally from Italy, she now splits her time between Los Angeles and Danville.
ArtSee Campaign Update
The Art Center’s ArtSee Campaign is a multi-phase plan for adaptive reuse and expansion. Through the generosity of the community and the hard work of our Capital Campaign Committee, we have raised $2 million toward a goal of $3.6 million for this restoration project.
We are currently wrapping up Phase II of this project and starting work on Phase III. Work is being done on the third floor of 409 W. Main Street. Electrical and plumbing work has been completed, and framing will begin soon in the ballroom area. We have also applied for the second half of a Historic Tax Credit, which is part of up to $300,000 available, based on completed work.

Printmaking with Lacy Hale
With support from the Kentucky Foundation for Women, we are excited to bring back our popular Feminist Printmaking Program, led by artist Lacy Hale. First implemented in 2022 with funding from the Kentucky Foundation for Women, the program was extremely well-received by participants, who have been asking when it will be offered again ever since.
Grant funds will be used for a teaching residency with Lacy Hale and twelve young women from Danville. The students will create artwork that reflects their identities, sense of place, and/or social issues that are meaningful to them; the residency will introduce students to a new art form and will culminate in a public display of their artwork. Through the creation and display of their work, students will be empowered to celebrate their role as change-makers in their community.
Space is limited to just 12 for this special Fall Break camp with Lacy Hale. Thanks to the generosity of the Kentucky Foundation for Women, this camp is FREE for girls ages 13-18.

Tea at Murrini Café
The second Monday of every month is for teatime at Murrini Café!
We will be closing the café for the day on second Mondays for two traditional tea services, at noon and again at 6 pm.
