FAQ’s

• Where are you located? 401 and 409 W. Main Street, Danville, Kentucky 40422.

• What are your hours? We are open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are closed on Sundays.

• Is there a cost to visit the Art Center? There is no cost to visit the Art Center. Grants and donations allow us to have all the exhibits available to the public at no cost.

• Where can I park? The Art Center has a small parking lot behind the building, accessible from 4th Street. There is one reserved handicap-accessible spot available. Street parking is available in front of the building and along Main Street.

• Is there transportation to the Art Center? The city of Danville does not have public transportation. Our local community action partnership does provide a bus route around Danville. • Is there an accessible ramp? Yes, we have an accessible ramp on the 4th Street side entrance at 401 W. Main Street and a ramp accessing the building at 409 W. Main Street.

• Is there an elevator in the building? Yes, we have an elevator that is easily accessible and gives access to all three floors of the building at 401 W. Main Street.

• Do you have wheelchair-accessible bathrooms? Yes, we have two wheelchair-accessible bathrooms on the first floor.

• Do you allow service dogs? Yes, service dogs are allowed at the Art Center.

• Do you have bathrooms that are family-friendly and gender-neutral? Yes, we have a family-friendly/gender-neutral bathroom on the second floor at 401 W. Main Street as well as at 409 W. Main Street. There is a changing table.

• Is your museum kid-friendly? Yes, children are welcome to visit our exhibits, artist studios, gift gallery, and the Art Lab Classroom.

• Can I touch the art when visiting? Please keep a respectful distance from the art while visiting the Art Center. We may have some opportunities to interact with the art, but those areas will be identified.

• Can I eat or drink while visiting? Please leave food and beverages at home when visiting the Art Center.

• Can I smoke or vape while visiting the Art Center? Smoking and vaping are prohibited on the grounds of the Art Center.

• Can I take pictures of the art? Yes, you may photograph the art but do not use a flash.

• I need to take a break during my visit, where should I sit? We have seating on the first floor near the elevator, and upstairs in the gallery. There is ample seating at 409 W. Main Street in the café and Art Studio space.

• I have sensory needs; how does your museum accommodate those needs? Our staff is happy to direct you to quiet areas during your visit should you need them. We also have sensory backpacks available upon request.

• I need an interpreter for my visit, is that available? Should an interpreter be needed please call before your visit so we can try to arrange what you need.

• I am visually impaired, are materials available in braille throughout the museum for my visit? We do not have materials in braille so please call before you visit so we can try to arrange what you need.

Access Accommodations

If you require special accommodations to participate in Art Center programming, please contact our Programming Director at 859-236-4054 or chirstina@artcenterky.org. Sign language interpretation may be available for some programs, with sufficient advance notice. Our grant funding for ASL interpretation has ended, but we are looking for ways to continue to offer this service. If you’ve got ideas, we’d love to hear from you!

Scholarship Fund

The Art Center maintains a robust scholarship fund available to children and adults for whom class registration fees pose a financial hardship. Scholarships for Art Center classes are awarded based on demonstrated financial need, availability of funds, and space in the requested class.
