Chase Away the Winter Blues
Chase away the winter blues with a trip to the Art Center this February! We have a little something for everyone.
Did you know a gift of an experience elicits greater gratitude than material gifts because they create meaningful memories? This Valentine’s Day, consider giving the gift of an art-related experience at the Art Center! We have a full slate of classes and workshops in February, including Date Night Pottery, Cake Decorating, Drawing, Painting, and even a homemade pasta workshop with NoodleCraft! We also have a Sweetheart Tea at Murrini Café, and a special story time and tea for your littlest Valentines planned too! Learn more HERE.
We are so excited to kick off the Seventh Annual Tiny Art Show with a call to artists! This popular annual event will be held on April 26 with a deadline to submit artworks by March 17. The only parameters placed on participation are that artwork can be no larger than 6” on any given side, and must be created on a flat surface to allow for easy wall hanging. The Tiny Art Show is also an important fundraiser for the Art Center, so we hope you will participate! Learn more HERE.

A Dance of Color and Abstract Form – Works by Susan Smith are on exhibition through Feb. 28 in our Museum Gallery, upstairs at 401 W. Main Street in Danville. Inspired by the bold, brilliant hues of acrylic paints, Susan explores vibrant color palettes and techniques such as Dutch Pour and Blow Painting. Her work radiates joy and energy, inviting viewers to find delight in the beauty of color. There will be a reception for the artist on Feb. 7 from 4:30-6 p.m. Admission is always free.

Jane Hutchens – Deeply Felted will be on display from Feb. 3 through March 8 in our Main Street Gallery at 409 W. Main Street in Danville. A reception will be held from 4:30 – 6 p.m. on Feb. 7. Known for her intricate, tactile creations, Jane transforms wool fibers to bring to life figures and scenes inspired by nature. Each piece is thoughtfully displayed within the natural contours of found wood and objects, blurring the lines between sculpture and environmental art. Admission is always free.
Our Art Therapy program is in its second month in February. We will kick things off with a free Lunch with the Arts featuring a discussion with art therapist Danielle Creamer from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4. Art Therapy for Adults (14+) will be held monthly on the second Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m. for just $15 per session.
We also offer Art Therapy for Neurodivergent Tweens and Teens on the fourth Saturday of each month. Kids ages 9-12 will meet from 1-2 p.m. and teens 13-17 will meet from 2-3 p.m. Register for Art Therapy and all of our programs HERE.
We are hosting special low-stimulation hours in our GLASS Museum every month on the fourth Saturday to coincide with the Art Therapy for Neurodivergent Tweens and Teens. We have sensory backpacks available anytime at the museum as well! Just ask at the front desk.
