Art Therapy

The inclusion of an art therapy program, facilitated by a licensed art therapist, offers a unique and effective approach in addressing the emotional, psychological, and social needs of children and adults in our community.  By engaging in creative activities under the guidance of a trained professional, children and adults are provided a safe and expressive outlet to process their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.  The art therapist utilizes various artistic mediums to encourage self-reflection, emotional exploration, and personal growth, while fostering communication and interpersonal skills.  Adult sessions will be held at the Art Center and children’s sessions will be held in small groups through Hogsett Primary School and other local schools.  If you can help support this program with a financial contribution or sponsorship, please contact us below.

Cultural Conversations

Engaging in cultural conversations promotes empathy and understanding, enabling us to embrace the richness and complexity of the world we live.  The Art Center will host six conversations on race, gender, diversity, inclusion, implicit bias, and equity.  These conversations allow us to challenge stereotypes and learn from one another’s differences.  Inclusivity, respect, and the celebration of diversity, ultimately contributes to a more harmonious and interconnected community.

This innovative initiative recognizes the inherit need for individuals with disabilities to have a platform where they can freely explore their artistic abilities.  By fostering an inclusive environment, the art studio creates opportunities for participants to build relationships, form a sense of community, and share their experiences through the universal language of art.  Through this collaborative and nurturing environment, the open studio not only empowers individuals with disabilities but also promotes understanding, empathy, and appreciation for the diverse talents and capabilities within our society.
