Spring Break Camp is Monday, March 31 – Friday, April 4!

Spring Break Camps will be held daily from 9 am to 2 pm for kids in grades 1-5. Register for just one day or for the entire week. Campers will dive into a variety of exciting projects, exploring new techniques and experimenting with different mediums to unleash their inner artist. 9 am – 2 pm daily. REGISTER HERE 

Wednesdays in April

Join us for an inspiring journey through art history in our Homeschool Art Club! Each week, we’ll dive into the life and work of a renowned artist, exploring their unique style and techniques while creating our own masterpieces. 1-2:30 pm. REGISTER HERE

Fridays in April

Mini Makers Club is every Friday from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm in our Art Lab Classroom, and the first Saturday of the month. We have weekly craft stations geared for kids ages 0-5, with a caretaker. It’s a great time to engage in creative play and make new friends! Mini Makers is FREE, with donations greatly appreciated.

Thursday, April 3 

Join the Chinese Culture Club from Centre College for a hands-on Chinese Sugar Painting class. This FREE program offers a unique opportunity to learn the traditional art of sugar painting, where melted sugar is skillfully crafted into beautiful, edible designs.

The event will be led by a skilled instructor from the Asia Institute – Crane House, beginning with a cultural presentation by the Chinese Culture Club, followed by a live demonstration and guided hands-on practice. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own sugar paintings, take part in a show-and-tell session, and engage in a Q&A session.

Saturday, April 5

Learn to Make Cavatelli Noodles with NoodleCraft’s Rick Cassidy. The popular local pasta maker will be here at the Art Center to lead a class on how to make this unique pasta shape at home! All materials and supplies are included, and no prior experience is required! Ages 13+. 6-8 pm. REGISTER HERE

Tuesday, April 8

Picture a Better World: How Picture Books Introduce Children to Empathy, Inclusion, and Social Justice is the topic for April’s Lunch with the Arts. Kate Snyder, owner of Plaid Elephant Books, will discuss how books are “mirrors and windows” reflecting a child’s own experiences and allowing children to peek into the lived experiences of others.

There will be an opportunity to purchase some of Kate’s favorite books on consent and bodily autonomy – which may be great conversation starters for young minds and contextually relevant for the Month of the Young Child/Child Abuse Awareness Month. 

This is a FREE event. Noon – 1 pm. 

Beginning/Intermediate Pottery is a six-week course where participants will learn foundational wheel-throwing techniques, trimming, decoration, glazing, and more. Whether you’re just starting or honing your skills, this class offers personalized instruction and plenty of studio time to help you succeed. Space is limited so register early! Ages 14+. Weekly on Tuesday from 6-8 pm, April 8 – May 13. Instructor is Stacie Barton. REGISTER HERE

Friday, April 11

Dolly & Me Tea at Murrini Café is the perfect time to pay homage to your inner child, experience magical memories, and jump back into imaginative play. Bring any doll or plush of your choosing and experience mini delicacies and teas served by Murrini Café. Treat yourself and party like you’ve been invited to the Dream House! Date Night Pottery is back! Looking for a different kind of date night? Try your hand at pottery! Spend an evening in our Ceramics Studio, with an option to add snacks and drinks to your experience too. Seating is limited so register early! Ages 18+, 6-8 pm. Instructor is Christina Browning. Sunday, April 13

Easter Egg Mosaic Workshop with Kate Snyder is an opportunity to create a unique piece of artwork in this all-ages mosaic class. Registration includes all the supplies you need to create a 5″ tall free-standing mosaic easter egg. All ages, 2-3:30 pm. REGISTER HERE

Thursday, April 24

Watercolor Club is a six-week class focused on flowers, using Emily Lex Studio’s watercolor workbook, included with your registration. Learn to paint 12 flower sketches, guided by our instructor, Christina Browning. Weekly on Thursdays from 6-8 pm, April 24 – May 29. REGISTER HERE

Friday, April 25

Superhero Tea at Murrini Café is a call to our mini superheroes! With great strength comes great responsibili-tea! Join our team as we save rumbling tummies from the forces of hunger. Be our guest and bring a hero with you or dress like one too. Enjoy super sips and mega bites. Murrini’s menu will cater to the pallets of young heroes and the nostalgic taste of veteran do-gooders alike. All ages, 4:30-6:30 pm. REGISTER HERE

SATURDAY, APRIL 26!!

Family Day and the Tiny Art Show! Join us from 1-5 pm for family fun, creative play, a performance by the Danville Children’s Choir, and a visit from the Boyle County Public Library’s Book Mobile! This FREE event is a great way to explore the Art Center campus, from our Art Studio Maker’s Space to our Ceramic Studio, and everywhere in between! 

Then at 5 pm, it’s time for our Seventh Annual Tiny Art Show sale! Jockey for your positions and get that piece of Tiny Art that has captured your imagination when they all go on sale at 5 pm for just $20 each! Some of our featured Art Center Studio Artists will have items for silent auction too. All proceeds from the Tiny Art Show help us fulfill our mission to connect all people to art, culture, and creativity. We hope you will join us!
