ArtSee Capital Campaign
Our multi-phased plan for adaptive reuse and expansion
Project Achievements:
Through the generosity of the community and the hard work of our capital campaign committee, we have raised $2 million toward a goal of $3.6 million for this restoration project.
We have preserved a large, historic but declining building in the center of Danville by transforming it into a vibrant, active part of our campus. It is now home to our Art Studio, Art Lab Classroom, Fern Curated Gifts, Murrini Café, offices, and artist studios.
We have established GLASS National Art Museum, honoring the artistic legacy of Stephen Rolfe Powell. Our permanent collection of his finest work attracts visitors from around the state and glass enthusiasts from around the world.
Still to Come:
Establish a glassblowing studio and educational programming to share both the history of glass and its contemporary artistic applications.
Restore the 3rd-floor Ballroom at 409 W. Main Street to create a new, elegant downtown space for large art classes and workshops, meetings, concerts, and events.
Install an elevator in 409 W. Main Street to make the building and ballroom accessible for all.
Support the Project
Having received more than $1.5 million from Centre College through an anonymous donor, the first two phases of the ArtSee campaign have been a success. We are looking to raise an additional $1.3 million to complete the adaptive reuse project and create a space that is accessible for all.
