Family Day, Tiny Art in April
The Art Center is the place to be in April, as we kick off pottery and watercolor classes, host NoodleCraft and Willaray Art for special workshops, and celebrate our annual Tiny Art Show and Family Day on April 26! We start April with Spring Break Camps, which run March 31 through April 4. For students in grades 1-5, these daily camps are from 9 am to 2 pm. Register for the whole week or drop in for just one day! REGISTER HERE.
The Seventh Annual Tiny Art Show is hung on the walls and ready to view! This year, the artwork will be exhibited through April 26 in our Main Exhibit Hall at 401 W. Main Street. Then, at 5 pm on April 26, let the fun begin! These miniature masterpieces were all donated to the Art Center to be sold in our Tiny Art Sale. Each piece will be sold for just $20 on a first-come, first-served basis. All proceeds help the Art Center live our mission of connecting all people to art, culture and creativity. We hope you will join us!
April 26 is also Family Day! Stop in from 1-5 pm for crafts in our Art Lab Classroom, Art Studio, and Ceramics Studio. There will be a performance by the Danville Children’s Choir and a visit from the Boyle County Public Library’s Book Mobile! This FREE event is a great time to come and tour the Art Center campus and meet our staff. We can’t wait to see you!
Murrini Café will be closed for kitchen renovations from March 31 through April 4. We are expanding our kitchen to help better serve you the delicious meals you love! Murrini is an integral part of the Art Center and an important revenue source for us. Beyond being a convenient place to grab a snack when visiting the Art Center, Murrini is growing its reputation as a great lunch spot in downtown Danville. And did you know every tip you give at Murrini goes to our scholarship fund? Since opening in December of 2023, your tips at Murrini Café have provided $16,000 toward this fund! Thank you!
Thanks to our tireless Capital Campaign Committee and our generous donors, more renovations are on the way! We will begin construction soon toward opening the third-floor Grand Ballroom at 409 W. Main Street. This is a major project that will help us make our 1909 building a jewel of the downtown area, and provide a beautiful space for meetings, small events, concerts, exhibits, classes and more!
Our Programming Director Christina Browning recently celebrated her two-year anniversary with the Art Center! Christina brings her shining energy and enthusiasm to work every day! Here are 5 things about Christina: 1) Her favorite color is pink – and glitter! 2) Her favorite medium is oil and acrylic painting, but she also loves pottery, watercolors, and printmaking. 3) Her favorite hobby is shopping for dresses, accessories, and all things stylish – fashion is just another form of art, she says! 4) She once owned an art studio in Illinois called Artsy Chic Studio, LLC. 5) Christina says her favorite thing about her job is working one-on-one with students of all ages in private lessons. Watching them grow in confidence, explore new techniques, and discover their passion through creativity is truly the best feeling ever! Thanks for all you do, Christina! You bring the sparkle to the Art Center every day!
