July at the Art Center

The heat of summer is here, and we’ve got lots of cool things to do at the Art Center in July! But first, we’d like to thank you for your continued support. Drastic cuts have been announced for the National Endowment for the Arts, and in May, the NEA sent letters to arts organizations around the country terminating their grants. 

With nearly $30 million in grants being canceled, this will trickle down throughout the arts community. We need your help more than ever. Please consider a one-time donation, a monthly contribution, or a sponsorship. Your support allows us to continue to provide educational arts programming for kids and adults, and a home for local and regional artists to show and sell their work.

Restoration Award

Art Center of the Bluegrass was recognized by the Danville-Boyle County Architectural Heritage Board for the adaptive reuse of our building at 409 W. Main Street.

The 2025 Excellence in Exterior Restoration Award was given for preserving the building’s historic character while enhancing its function for community use. Architect Garlan VanHook and Shepherd Construction were acknowledged for restoring the building’s windows, sills, and exterior features. Read more in the Advocate-Messenger HERE

New Exhibit

Plein Air Artists of Central Kentucky

The tranquil landscapes created by members of the Plein Air Artists of Central Kentucky are like a breath of fresh air in this summer heat! An exhibition of their work will be in our Main Street Gallery from July 2 – August 9. 

An artist reception will be held on Friday, July 11, from 4:30 – 6 pm. Admission is free, so be sure to stop in and see the wonderful work of this regional art collective. Learn more about our current exhibits HERE

Evening in the Art Park at Art Center of the Bluegrass

Third Thursday

Be sure to make the Art Center a stop during July’s Third Thursday in downtown Danville! It’s the Dog Days of Summer, and we have a great evening planned – even for your furry friends!

Drop the kids off for Kids Night Out, hit up Murrini for Brats & Brews in the Art Park, and make some art with your fur babies at the Paw Print Paint Party, all on Thursday, July 17.

In the Art Studio

It’s Christmas in July in our Art Studio! Drop in with family and friends and get a jump on the holidays with 25% OFF our Paint-Your-Own Pottery! Forget about the heat, and create some cool winter vibes by painting some Christmas Cheer! The Art Studio is open Monday – Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm.
